Indoor bamboo plants are becoming very popular for home decor. Bamboo belongs to the grass family, Poaceae. It’s important to purchase a species to match your indoor growing conditions – space (height & width), sunlight and humidity.

The photo you sent in is a Golden bamboo (Phyllostachys aurea). Other species of small bamboos (up to 4 feet tall) suitable for use as houseplants include: Pleioblastus variegatus ‘Tsuboi’, Pleioblastus viridistriatus, Bambusa multiplex ‘Tiny Fern’ or ‘Golden Goddess’, Indocalamus tessellatus, and Chusquea coronalis.
